Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire made the crowded slums of Mumbai a celebration of life and passion and, with that Bollywood finale, one of the most satisfying expressions of joy ever committed to celluloid. With 127 Hours, he takes a single man trapped for five days in the middle of nowhere and manages to provide an equally inspired and inspiring ride.
